Valentine's Day | Happy Valentine's Day | Valentine's Day celebration – 14th February

Valentine's Day is a celebration of love and lovers. Every February 14, across all over the world, candy, flowers and gifts are exchanged between loved ones, all in the name of St. Valentine.
But who is this mysterious saint, and where did these traditions come from?

There are different opinions regarding the origin of Valentine's Day. Some experts claim that it originated from St Valentine, a Roman who was martyred for refusing to give up Christianity. He died on Feb 14, 269 AD, the same day that had been devoted to love lotteries.

Some sources say that St Valentine left a farewell note for the jailer's daughter, who had become his friend, and signed it "From Your Valentine."

Another perspective about Valentine's day say that Saint Valentine served as a priest at the temple during the reign of Emperor Claudius. Claudius then had Valentine jailed for defying him. In 496 AD Pope Gelasius set aside Feb 14 to honour St. Valentine.

However, it is traditionally a day on which lovers express their love for each other by presenting flowers, offering sweetshop, sending greeting cards and SMS. Modern Valentine's Day symbols include the heart-shaped outline, doves and the figure of the winged Cupid.

It may be noted that Valentine's Day started as a romantic festival but today the festival has increased in scope. These days, Valentine's Day is essentially regarded as festival that celebrates love between individuals and not just lovers. People therefore wish ‘Happy Valentine's Day' to parents, teachers, siblings, friends or any other person special to them.

Let's celebrate Valentine's Day and express your feeling with romantic love .......
